Toy Addiction

I have to ask, what's up with this addiction to toys, to all these little plastic sculptures? Is it our need, as artists, to continually collect inspiring things? Is it a more basic human instinct we are acting on, some long forgotten urge to horde the things we like around us?
Maybe we are just trying to make a mark, a legacy, trying to leave something behind for the next generation.
All these plastic creatures are embodied with the imagination, the perspective, of one particular creator and sometimes a multitude of them. That may be what we leave behind, our opinions, our creative vision as artists, our uniquely twisted view of reality. In a way it brings us all closer together, the present and the future, helps to spread our influence across time, and all from a little plastic toy.
